The Young and the Restless Spoilers: 4 Big Returns, These Characters Needed Back in GC

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that with the head writing transition underway, there’ll be opportunities for familiar characters to head back to Genoa City.

It’ll be interesting to see which homecomings might be on the horizon.

Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor have taken over for Josh Griffith as the show’s co-head writers.

Now it’s just a matter of waiting for O’Connor and Gidden’s storylines to air.

Of course, Giddens and O’Connor could decide to bring back some characters who haven’t been seen in a while.

Let’s consider four big returns that could happen since these roles are arguably needed back in GC.

1) Avery Bailey Clark

Avery Bailey Clark (last played by Jessica Collins) is Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) sister, so that alone could set the stage for some family issues and a goldmine of drama.

Since Avery was also romantically involved with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) in the past, maybe their reconnection could shake things up as well.

Avery also happens to be an attorney, so we could certainly imagine her tangled up in some legal cases.

There would be great reasons to bring Avery back to town whether Jessica Collins is playing her or someone new.

2) Tucker McCall

Tucker McCall (last played by Trevor St. John) left Y&R rather abruptly and might have unfinished business with a few characters on canvas.

What if Tucker hasn’t been able to get Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) off his mind and returns to prove his love for her is real?

It was mentioned that Tucker did a prison stint in India, so maybe he could get out and fight for Audra after some soul-searching.

Tucker might also want to focus on rebuilding his relationship with Devon Winters (Bryton James) and Dominic Winters (Ethan Ray Clark) again.

Devon could perhaps use an ally against Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) if he decides he wants to break up his reunion with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), so Tucker might vow to help.

Whether Trevor St. John returns to the role or a recast takes over, it’d be fun to see Tucker again.

3) Summer Newman

Naturally, no return wish list would be complete without Summer Newman (last played by Allison Lanier).

Summer is mentioned constantly, but she remains stuck off-screen in Italy when plenty of drama is waiting for her back home.

It’d be exciting to see Summer’s reaction to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) romantic entanglement at some point.

Nick and Phyllis also need their daughter around, so let’s hope Summer will return down the road.

Hunter King, Allison Lanier or a brand-new actress would all be wonderful options as long as Summer’s back in the picture.

4) Reed Hellstrom

It’s also been far too long since we’ve seen Victoria and J.T. Hellstrom’s (Thad Luckinbill) son, Reed Hellstrom (last played by Tristan Lake Leabu).

It might be the perfect time for Reed to come home and weigh in on Victoria’s messy personal life once her connection to Kyle blows up.

Reed might even find love in Genoa City, so stay tuned to see if he might return to the show in some form.
