2 Returning Actors Take On New Roles, Representing A Secret Mafia Organization? GH Spoilers
General Hospital may be setting the stage for the end of an era in Port Charles, and honestly, that possibility is both exciting and terrifying.
Sonny Corinthos and Jason Morgan have spent decades at the center of the city’s dangerous underworld, surviving rival mobsters, betrayals, shootings, kidnappings, and countless attempts to destroy everything they built.

But now, both men appear to be looking toward something different. Sonny is considering a future outside the mob, while Jason is focused on Danny and trying to repair the damage caused by years of violence and WSB-related trauma.
On the surface, that sounds like exactly what these characters deserve. After everything Sonny and Jason have endured, why shouldn’t they finally have a chance at peace?
Sonny could imagine a life with Justine that does not revolve around enemies and gunfire, while Jason could concentrate on being there for Danny and rebuilding the relationship they lost so much time to.
But this is Port Charles.
Whenever the old guard steps away, someone is always waiting to fill the vacuum.
That is why a new theory about the future of the mob storyline is so fascinating. What if Sonny and Jason’s attempt to retire is not the end of the Corinthos era, but the beginning of something much bigger?
Instead of introducing another predictable villain who simply wants Sonny dead, GH could introduce a sophisticated organization that has been quietly watching Port Charles for years.
One wild possibility involves Chris McKenna returning to the canvas—not necessarily as Brennan, but as an entirely new character. I
magine an intelligent, ruthless strategist who has spent years waiting for the right moment to strike. Brennan’s presence may have maintained a certain balance in the underworld, but with him gone, this mysterious figure could finally decide that Port Charles is vulnerable.
And what if he is not working alone?
Another intriguing theory imagines Kelly Monaco returning to GH as a brand-new character rather than Sam McCall. Instead of bringing back a familiar role, the actress could potentially portray a sophisticated corporate villain who operates behind the scenes. She could control the financial side of the operation while McKenna’s character handles the more dangerous work.
That would create a completely different kind of mob storyline.
Sonny would not simply be fighting someone who wants his territory. The new organization could attempt to take control of the businesses, docks, warehouses, and legitimate connections associated with the Corinthos name. Even worse, they could try to use Sonny himself as a figurehead. After spending his entire life fighting to remain in control, Sonny could discover that someone wants to turn his reputation into a shield for their own empire.
For Sonny, that could be psychologically devastating.
Carly could also find herself directly in the crosshairs. A sophisticated enemy might not approach her with threats or violence. Instead, this potential new villain could arrive as a polished businesswoman offering partnerships and opportunities, slowly dismantling Carly’s world from the inside while pretending to be an ally.
Meanwhile, Jason may have no choice but to return to action if Danny or his family becomes threatened. Josslyn could also become involved through her WSB connections, potentially putting her and Jason on the same side of a dangerous investigation.
Dante would face an impossible conflict as well. He could find himself caught between loyalty to his father and his responsibility as a law-enforcement officer. Anna, meanwhile, would have to confront a sophisticated criminal network while already dealing with the emotional consequences of her recent struggles.
And then there is Tracy Quartermaine. If this mysterious organization begins purchasing businesses throughout Port Charles, Tracy is hardly going to sit quietly and watch her family’s interests disappear. A corporate battle between Tracy and a calculating new villain could bring the mob, business world, and hospital storylines together in one enormous conflict.
Of course, none of this confirms that Chris McKenna or Kelly Monaco is returning in these roles, and the idea of a new mafia organization remains speculation. But as a fan theory, it could provide GH with a fascinating way to evolve the classic mob formula without simply repeating the same story.
Perhaps Sonny and Jason really can retire. Or perhaps their attempt to walk away creates the exact opening their enemies have been waiting for.
The biggest question is whether Port Charles is about to lose its old kings—or whether Sonny and Jason will eventually be forced to return and face an enemy far more dangerous than anything they have encountered before.
Could a new corporate-powered mafia become the next major GH supervillain? And would you want to see Sonny and Jason pulled back into the action one more time? Let me know what you think in the comments, because if this theory becomes reality, Port Charles could be heading toward one of its biggest underworld battles yet.
