Big Star Joins DOOL This Week: Who is Sydney Malakeh & Why Salem is in Chaos?
Yup, Sydney has been spotted in Salem! Sydney Malakeh, that is! Days of Our Lives shared the news on their official Instagram account, with a video of the newcomer striding through the sets and behind the scenes, culminating in her dressing room.
But it was just the briefest of teases as the show captioned the video with, “Who is Sydney Malakeh? Find out September 9th!”
And that’s all they shared. In other words, there’s no indication on who she’s playing yet — though that didn’t stop fans from giving it their best guess in the comments!
The most common response — helped along, perhaps, by the fact that they share a name — is that Malakeh is playing EJ and Sami’s daughter, Sydney. It’s not completely out of left field, of course, especially with how often Sydney’s been mentioned lately, and how the show seemed to make it clear that she would be coming to Salem! (Though we’d thought that was going to happen over the summer if it did.)
The second most popular choice seems to be a recast Chloe, though that would seem to be an age shift down. But with Joy going through what could be a life-changing medical diagnosis, it would make sense for at least someone in her family to show up. And she did just talk to Chloe on the phone on Thursday!
Others suggested everyone from the mother of Javi’s child, to another cousin of the Hernandez family. And one fan suggested she’s Stefano and Marlena’s daughter! (Who may or may not exist.)
What we do know is that this is Malakeh’s first daytime role, though she’s appeared on a number of shows, like Grey’s Anatomy and HBO Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls. Well, we know that, and that we’ll find out who she’s playing in September?
