Salem may be preparing for another major casting shake-up, and Days of Our Lives fans are already asking one explosive question: Could Brytni Sarpy become the new Chanel Dupree?
The speculation began after the announcement that Brytni Sarpy has officially joined Days of Our Lives. The former General Hospital and The Young and the Restless star is returning to daytime television, but the soap has deliberately kept her character a mystery.
That secrecy has immediately created theories.
The biggest possibility being discussed by fans is that Brytni could step into the role of Chanel. Raven Bowens, who has played Chanel since 2021, was one of four younger DAYS actors let go at the beginning of 2026.
Raven originally took over Chanel from Precious Way in 2021 and quickly made the character her own. Her version of Chanel became closely connected to Johnny, Paulina, the DiMera family and several major Salem storylines.
Now fans are wondering whether the producers could decide to recast the character with a much more established soap veteran.
Brytni would certainly have the experience.
She is already familiar with the world of daytime drama, having played Valerie Spencer on General Hospital and Elena Dawson on The Young and the Restless. Her arrival gives DAYS a recognizable actress who could potentially be placed into an important existing role.
But there is one major problem with the theory.
DAYS has not announced that Brytni is playing Chanel.
The official casting news only confirms that she has joined the show in a mystery role. Reports indicate viewers will not see her character until around summer 2027 because of the show’s extremely long production schedule.
That means the recast rumors could be completely wrong.
Brytni may be playing an entirely new character created specifically for the current Salem storyline. She could also portray someone connected to one of Salem’s powerful families, potentially opening the door to a completely unexpected romance or rivalry.
Meanwhile, Raven’s departure does not mean Chanel disappears immediately.
Because DAYS films many months ahead, Raven’s episodes continue airing long after her exit from production. This explains why fans can still see Raven as Chanel even though the actress is no longer part of the show’s future cast.
The mystery therefore remains.
Could Brytni eventually walk into Salem as a brand-new character? Or are producers secretly preparing her to become the next Chanel Dupree?
