It looks like Jack Brennan’s death is bringing a new face to General Hospital and Port Charles in the form of Alimi Ballard, the veteran actor who won the hearts of ABC soap fans in the 1990s as Frankie Hubbard, according to TV Insider.

Alimi Ballard Joins General Hospital

Ballard, whose primetime credits include Grey’s Anatomy, Dark Angel, and Criminal Minds, played Frankie on both Loving and its spinoff series, The City.

Frankie, of course, was the son of legendary All My Children supercouple Angie and Jesse Hubbard, famously played by Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams.

“I got that job in August of 1993, my first, true on-camera series regular,” he said in a 2020 interview with Theater Corner. “It was my first entry into being a real professional actor, the whole audition process.”

Ballard makes his GH debut on the Thursday, September 3rd episode as William Baines. On September 2, eagle-eyed fans spotted Ballard in the brief preview that airs at the end of each episode talking to Josslyn (Eden McCoy).

He is standing behind Jack’s desk with Josslyn briefing him. Josslyn tells Baines that “the evidence suggests foul play is possible.”

At the end of the Wednesday airshow, Josslyn had just called her superiors at the WSB to alert them that Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) was missing.

While Josslyn does not yet know it, Ava (Maura West) gave Jack a sleeping pill so Drew (Cameron Mathison) could search his hotel room. Somehow, Jack landed in the Metro Court pool and drowned.

When Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) and Charlotte came upon his body, they left him there. But Ava and Drew found Jack and buried him by the Quartermaine crypt.

Now, Ballard is in town to figure out what really happened to the WSB station chief. Will he take over Jack’s job and become the new defacto leader of the agency in Port Charles, making him Josslyn’s brand-new boss? Stay tuned to find out.
