The episode begins with Steve and Jack catching up.

Jack’s return to Salem has already created plenty of emotional moments, especially as he reconnects with the people who have been part of his complicated past. Now he and Steve have an opportunity to talk and reflect on everything that has happened.

Meanwhile, EJ turns his attention toward Chad.

EJ is determined to understand the mystery surrounding Stefano’s chessboard. The strange object has already raised questions about Stefano’s unfinished business, and EJ wants answers.

Chad may know more than he is willing to admit.

Elsewhere, Sarah comforts Xander.

Xander is under enormous pressure as he continues dealing with the problems surrounding Titan and his family. Philip’s actions have created another source of conflict, and Xander is struggling to keep everything from falling apart.

Sarah understands what he is going through.

Rather than judging Xander, she offers emotional support and reminds him that he does not have to face every crisis alone. Her words could help Xander regain some confidence during an extremely difficult period.

At the same time, Kate asks Ari for a favor.

Kate has something important she needs Ari to do, but the request could put the younger woman in an uncomfortable position. Ari may have to decide whether helping Kate is worth the potential consequences.

Meanwhile, Marlena gives Belle a meaningful keepsake.

The gift carries emotional significance and could become much more important than Belle initially realizes. With Belle already connected to the Stefano chessboard mystery, the keepsake may give her another clue about the past.
